Dr Katharine (Kat) Blazé

MBBS BA BSc GradDipEd FRACP MPH

Developmental Paediatrician

Kat is a dedicated paediatrician with a unique combination of expertise in both education and medicine. Before becoming a doctor, she worked as a secondary school teacher in Victoria and also taught in several public primary schools in France, giving her insight into the classroom experience of young people with learning and behavioural challenges. This background allows her to bridge the gap between healthcare and education, working closely with families, schools, and communities to support children in reaching their full potential.

Kat completed her medical training at Melbourne University and completed her specialist training in General Paediatrics at the Royal Children’s and Monash Children’s Hospitals. She went on to obtain a second specialist qualification in Community Child Health, making her one of the few paediatricians who is fully dual-trained and accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in both areas. This means she has completed two separate, rigorous paediatric training programs, each with distinct requirements. Kat’s comprehensive training gives her a deeper level of expertise in developmental and behavioural paediatrics and a broader understanding of the complex social and systemic factors affecting child health. She has worked at the Women’s and Children’s Unit of the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service and has cared for children in out-of-home care and those affected by trauma during her time at the Victorian Forensic Paediatric Medical Service. She has also worked in specialised paediatric clinics for learning difficulties, unsettled babies, sleep concerns, and encopresis (soiling) at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Kat has a special interest in neurodevelopmental conditions, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and developmental delay, as well as language and communication difficulties, anxiety, and learning challenges. She also provides support for feeding, eating and sleeping difficulties, toileting, constipation/soiling, overweight/obesity and developmental trauma. She is passionate about helping families navigate these challenges with evidence-based strategies tailored to each child’s unique needs.

Having lived and worked in both Australia and France, Kat understands the complexities of transitioning between different education systems, particularly for children who speak English as an additional language. She has not only navigated these systems professionally but also as a mother, having migrated overseas with her family and enrolled her children at school in a non-English speaking country. She understands firsthand the challenges of moving to a new country, adapting to a different school system, and supporting children through these transitions. She is passionate about helping families through these changes and ensuring that every child is understood, supported, and given the best opportunity to thrive.

Kat takes a holistic approach to care, recognising that each child’s development is influenced by their environment, relationships, and experiences. She believes in working collaboratively with families, educators, and other health professionals to build strong support networks that empower children to grow with confidence.

Sally Le Guen

AthR B.A (textile design) DipVisArts CertIVDisability

Creative Arts Therapist

Sally is a Creative Arts Therapist specialising in early childhood development, family systems, and trauma-informed practice. With a background in visual arts, textile design, and disability support, she integrates her expertise to provide a tailored, client-centered approach. Trained in attachment theory and child-led methodologies, Sally works collaboratively with parents and carers to strengthen bonds, support emotional regulation, and foster healthy relational experiences.

Through Parent-Child and Family Therapy, Sally creates a compassionate and creative space where connection and self-expression can flourish. Arts Therapy offers an alternative means of communication, where no prior artistic experience is needed. By engaging with materials such as clay, paint, or sand, individuals can externalize emotions and experiences, facilitating deeper self- awareness and understanding within the family system. This process is built on trust, an authentic therapeutic relationship, and a person-centered approach that honors the perspectives of both children and their caregivers.

Sally’s work empowers children and families to develop stronger emotional connections, enhance resilience, and build self-esteem through creativity and play. She views artistic expression as a bridge for communication, offering an engaging and meaningful way to explore identity, emotions, and relationships.

Having lived and traveled extensively, including five years in Edinburgh, Sally brings a broad, holistic perspective to her work. Outside of her therapy practice, she enjoys spending time with her family and their dog Noi, as well as collecting natural materials—leaves, shells, and other found objects—to incorporate into her own art-making.
